Privacy Policy.

BUF Personal Training LLC ("BUF," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you contact us or visit trainwithbuf.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've tried to write this in plain English instead of legalese.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us directly

When you submit our contact form, you can provide the following — all fields are optional:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Which BUF services you're interested in (in-person training, virtual training, mobility, diet coaching)
  • How you heard about BUF
  • Any message you choose to write

When you call us at 929-554-3147 or email getfit@trainwithbuf.com, we receive whatever information you share with us in that conversation.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, our infrastructure providers (Cloudflare and Google) automatically log standard technical data, including:

  • Your IP address (used by Cloudflare for security and abuse prevention; not retained beyond standard log periods)
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages you visit on our site and how you navigate between them
  • The referring page or search query that brought you to us
  • Approximate location based on IP address (city or region only, never precise location)

What we do not collect

We do not collect health information, financial information, or any sensitive personal data through this website. Payment for training sessions happens separately through our booking system after we've spoken with you, and is handled by our payment processor, not on this site.

2. How we use that information

We use the information you provide and the information collected automatically for these purposes:

  • Responding to your inquiry. The contact form submission gets emailed to ben@trainwithbuf.com so the BUF team can reach out to you about training.
  • Improving the website. We use analytics data to understand which pages are useful, which aren't, and where visitors come from.
  • Measuring advertising effectiveness. If you arrived from a Google ad, we log that as a conversion so we know which ads work (see Advertising below).
  • Security and fraud prevention. Cloudflare automatically blocks malicious traffic and abuse.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with anyone for marketing purposes. The only people who see your inquiry are the BUF team members who need to respond to it.

3. Who we share information with

We use a handful of trusted service providers to operate our website and respond to inquiries. These services receive only the data they need to do their job, and they're contractually obligated to protect it.

We may also disclose information if required by law (a subpoena, court order, or other legal process), or if necessary to protect our rights, property, or the safety of others.

4. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Cloudflare cookies for security and bot prevention
  • Google Ads cookies (such as _gcl_au) to measure ad performance and conversions

We do not use cookies for retargeting, behavioral profiling, or selling your data. If you want to disable cookies, you can do so in your browser settings — the site will still work normally.

5. Advertising and conversion tracking

We run Google Ads for our personal training services in NYC. To measure whether our ads work, we use Google's conversion tracking. Here's how it works:

  • When you click one of our Google ads, Google's tracking attaches a small identifier so we can later see if you submitted our contact form.
  • If you do, we log that as a "conversion" — we know one ad click eventually led to one inquiry. We do not see your personal details connected to the ad click.
  • This helps us spend our small advertising budget on ads that actually work.

You can opt out of Google Ads personalization at adssettings.google.com.

6. How long we keep information

  • Contact form submissions: stored in our email inbox indefinitely, since we may need to refer back to a prior conversation if you become a client. If you want yours deleted, just ask.
  • Analytics data: retained by Google for a default period (currently around 14 months for Google Ads conversion data).
  • Server logs: automatically deleted by Cloudflare per their standard retention policy.

7. Your rights and choices

Regardless of where you live, you have these rights with respect to your information:

  • Access. Ask us what we have on file about you. We'll tell you.
  • Correction. Ask us to fix anything that's wrong or out of date.
  • Deletion. Ask us to delete your contact information from our records.
  • Opt out of analytics. Disable cookies in your browser or use a browser that blocks them by default.
  • Opt out of ad targeting. Visit adssettings.google.com.

To exercise any of these rights, email getfit@trainwithbuf.com with your request. We'll respond within a reasonable time — typically within a few days.

If you live in California, the EU, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy laws (CCPA, GDPR, etc.), those laws may grant you additional rights. We honor those rights even though we are a small NYC business and not legally required to do so by every state's law.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we collect:

  • The website is served over HTTPS, encrypting all communication between your browser and our servers.
  • Contact form submissions are transmitted to our inbox via Resend's encrypted API.
  • Our infrastructure runs on Cloudflare's network, which provides DDoS protection and threat blocking.

That said, no system is 100% secure. If you're concerned about transmitting sensitive information over the web, please call us at 929-554-3147 instead.

9. Children's privacy

BUF Personal Training serves adults age 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through our website, please contact us at getfit@trainwithbuf.com and we'll delete it.

10. International visitors

BUF Personal Training is based in New York City, and our servers are operated from the United States by Cloudflare. If you're visiting our website from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. By using our website, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time as our practices change or as required by law. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted clearly. If you've contacted us in the past and want to know when we change this, just email and ask.
